Stealth Switch USB Desktop Security

06/24/06

Performance:

For a product like this performance is kind of merged with usability and quality that being said I am just going to ramble a bit on the various things I found good and bad surrounding this product. Basic performance of reaction time when clicking the button does vary. I found the first click over seems to be a bit sluggish especially with products like MS Word or lotus Notes but after the initial cycle speed increased dramatically like lightning.

Now I tested this on not only a well-wondered PC that performs well to begin with but a standard POS work PC that can barely function using the ctrl tab between programs. To my amazement the Stealth Switch worked great even on the inferior 667mghz P3 IBM with 256 Meg's of RAM running with 7 windows on the task bar.

In terms of setup the multitude of options can be overwhelming but as long as you know what your intent is the tools is probably available. I initially setup the product to return a screen with the three main windows always in use at work. This is a great way to go from one application to e-mail or the database. Then I wanted to tweak the security so everything disappears but my background / wallpaper. And finally I used the product to password protection. Now there are many other combination including Key stroke activations if you want multiple points of execution and no i didn't try every one but  well over 80% was tested and worked with little negative actions everything was very fast when execution was performed. You can use a sound indicator but in reality you probably wont want to let on that you are switching screens. All in all the performance of the StealthSwitch was better then expected and easy to negotiate the options desired.

Pros:

Easy to use

Easy to Install

Durable

Solid software

Cons:

Price is a bit high unless you get the 10 USD off

Conclusion:

When looking at the whole package the Stealth switch is a great idea and these guess did an even better job of making it marketable and easy to use. The software is very strait forward even a novice PC user will have little problems with this device. The construction is solid. And the price is very reasonable. If you need a way to quickly make private information from wandering eyes and don’t want to much hassle with installation and setup then look no further the StealthSwitch is exactly what the Doctor ordered. There was very little negative I could find especial with regarded to the performance so it is easy to award the Stealth Switch with our highest honor the “Editors Choice Trophy of Excellence” for a great USB product that provides a specific task effectively and at a reasonable price. Congratulations Stealth Switch well done!!!!!
