Dancing Light Kit Review

The Dancing Light Kit provided by Glowire for us to review was a change from the products we normally review here at Marns CDA. Most of the things we include in our computers have some sort of cooling or performance function, and aesthetics are normally put on the back burner. So this review is going to be a little different. The Dancing Light Kit is an item designed to liven up a computer desk.

Specs:

12 volt 6 light LED Dancing light

3 different settings

Easy plug & play installation into empty molex connector

Installation was extremely simple. The light plugs into a molex connector, and since it has another molex output, you don't lose any connectors by using this product. The back plate uses one PCI slot, and it has two switches. One to turn the unit on and off, and the other to cycle through the three operational modes. We were able to install and operate the unit in less than 3 minutes. The lights were bright and colorful, and the unit seemed to be sturdy.

If you have the need for some colored lighting in your case, the dancing light kit will do its job. The only downside is that the dancing light kit will require more space than a regular cold cathode kit, and you may need to use some electrical tape to affix the light where you want it. On a positive note, this is a unique lighting kit, and will definitely draw attention. The alternative lighting modes break away from ordinary cold cathode kits. Also, the dancing light kit does NOT require a power inverter, which is very nice.

Pros:

Installation is very easy.

Lights are vibrant and colorful.

Easy to use.

Cons:

Mount is not strong enough to keep light affixed in all situations additional adhesive might need to be applied.

Takes up more case space then standard CCL kits...

Conclusion:

Overall, I give the Dancing Light Kit 4 1/2 stars out of 6. It functions as described, however, this is not for everyone. It is very simple to install and use, and will satisfy those who don't expect a lot from it.

Rating 4 1/2 out of 6 stars
